Case Study: Delivering Ultra-Dry Air for Fiber Optic and Electrical Line Installation

The Challenge

Contractors working with mobile compressors in Western Canada were encountering serious issues when installing electrical wires and fiber optics underground.
The compressed air used to push cables through conduits contained residual moisture, which caused two major problems:

- Freezing in Cold Conditions
Moist air condensed and froze inside conduits during winter operations, blocking airflow and stalling cable installation.

- Electrical System Overheating
Trapped moisture led to short circuits and overheating once electrical lines were energized — posing a significant safety and reliability concern.

Accord Air, our authorized distributor in Moose Jaw, needed a mobile, field-ready drying system that could deliver instrument-grade air directly from tow-behind compressors.

The Super-Dry Solution

Super-Dry collaborated with Accord Air to design a compact drying package that could be easily towed behind an Atlas Copco XAS 110 mobile compressor (110–185 CFM / 100–150 PSI).

Aftercooler – lowers air temperature to condense and remove bulk water.
SAF Filter – eliminates fine oil aerosols and particulates.
D2 Desiccant Air Dryer – removes remaining humidity for ultra-dry output air.

The complete unit was built on a rugged frame, designed for field durability and easy connection to mobile compressors used by contractors on job sites.

Results

⚙️ 100 % Elimination of Moisture Problems
No freezing or condensation in conduits during underground installations.

💨 Safe and Reliable Cable Pushing
Clean, dry air prevents wire damage and ensures smooth feeding of fiber optics and electrical lines.

🚧 Portable and Job-Site Ready
Contractors tow the package directly behind their compressor, enabling easy deployment and setup anywhere.

📈 Increased Productivity
Continuous operation with fewer interruptions — maximizing efficiency even in sub-zero conditions.

Outcome Summary

By integrating Super-Dry’s aftercooler, filtration, and desiccant-drying technology into a portable configuration, contractors can now work confidently on moisture-sensitive underground projects year-round.
This system has become a trusted solution for Accord Air’s customers requiring high-purity, dry compressed air on mobile applications.
