Our Story
🛠️ 1970s – Innovation Begins
Super-Dry’s origins trace back to the early 1970s, when a Montreal engineer created Dry-Aire, a breakthrough single-tower desiccant air dryer. Testing confirmed its outstanding efficiency as a point-of-use system. The first model, the “D-1,” soon followed, leading to the establishment of a manufacturing facility in Montréal, Canada.
🔧 Product Expansion in Québec
Top sales representative and inventor, Normand Rayle, played a key role in advancing the Dry-Aire product line, contributing to the development of the “D-2” and “D-3” models. His efforts helped build a strong distribution network across the province of Québec.
🏭 Universal Compressors & the Birth of Super-Dry
Normand later obtained the manufacturing rights and launched Universal Compressors Inc. Dry-Aire was rebranded as Super-Dry, and the lineup grew with the “D-4,” FC/FD mini filters and dryers, and the ATD Series mobile dryers—solidifying the company’s reputation for innovation.
❤️ A Legacy Continued
After twelve years establishing himself as a trusted manufacturer, Normand passed away at the young age of 52. His son Marc, then studying administration at Concordia University, took a bold step at just 24—purchasing the family business and carrying forward his father’s vision.
🇨🇦➡️🇺🇸 A New Direction and Growing Network
Marc and his wife Nina renamed the company Super-Dry Systems, shifting its full focus to air dryer manufacturing and leaving compressor repair behind. Their vision: recreate their Canadian success in the United States by developing a growing network of compressor houses—a network that continues to expand today.
